AAVE EXHIBITION: ILLUSTRATIONS OF EMIL BERTELL AND E-ARTQUAKE VIDEO ART
AT LASIPALATSI EXHIBITION SPACE 10. – 15.4.2012

We organise the exhibition ”Emil Bertell: AAVE Extended” in the gallery space of Lasipalatsi. The space is functioning also as festival info desk, open daily from 12 noon to 8pm. Emil Bertell is a Turku-based graphic designer and illustrator. He has been working with AAVE festival since 2010. As the illustrator he is well-known of his detailed pencil works, which he combines digitally, creating fascinating imaginary worlds, rich in their moods.

In addition we screen 11 short italian short films, shown in E-ArtQuake, 1980 Irpinia earthquake memorial exhibition, held in November 2010. EArtQuake is a collective art exhibition focused on connecting digital art and new technologies aesthetics with themes about memory, trauma and identity loss following catastrofic events such as earthquakes. Thirty years after Irpinia’s  Earthquake, the “90 seconds” contest (earthshock lasted that long), gave life to 72 works in an art show in Avellino during 2010. We show 11 selected short films in Lasipalatsi exhibition space made in this context. The films are presented in collaboration with FLUSSI new media art festival (IT).
