Matti Niinimäki: Hiitola Occupants

Hiitola Occupants (Hiitolan asukit) is a free animation workshop for for children of the age 7-12 years and their adults, with drawing, crafts and animation. The workshop is run by media artist Matti Niinimäki and its goal is to create imaginative creatures for a media art piece.

The animations made in the workshop will be attached to an artwork that is shown during the festival at the Lasipalatsi square in central Helsinki. The workshop is designed for 10 children and their adults. Enquiries and registration for the workshop by 7th of April via email hiitolanasukit@gmail.com. Welcome!

The project is produced by a collective of three women, Jääskeläinen, Ohtonen & Väliheikki. Media artist Matti Niinimäki works in the intersections of research, interactive installations, experimental electronics and real time sound and video. There’s always room for humor in his work, as well as for the insight of the people experiencing it.
